You know what the worst thing about DIYing something is? When your project comes out looking VERY handmade. Or it falls apart in no time... I am so happy with how this Levi sign turned out! #patontheback I promise you can do this and no one would ever guess you made it. On top of that, the project only cost me $24. Although, I did have the buffalo check paper, 1 x 4s, and wood glue!
DIY Nursery Sign
Supplies:
1 - 2'x4' sheet of 1/2" wood
2 - 1"x4"
Wood Glue
Clamps
Self Adhesive Wall Paper {Target}
Letters {Hobby Lobby}
Craft Paint
Craft Glue
Directions:
1. Cut the sheet of wood to your desired dimensions {mine is 3'7" by 2'}. Cut the 1x4s to make the frame for your sheet of wood. These cuts will all depend on how big or small you want to make your sign.
2. Attach the wall paper to the sheet of wood keeping in mind what your frame will cover.
3. Glue and clamp the 1x4's to the board for at least 1 hour.
4. Paint the letters with your craft paint and attach to the wallpaper with glue {by far the hardest part of this project is attaching these letters straight!}.
Done!
Levi's room is pretty close to finished! I am so excited because I've been so stumped what to do over the crib. This was my 4th attempt and I'm glad I didn't settle for my first 3 options. And for those of y'all that are worried... I attached the sign with 100 lb picture hanging kit into studs. This sign won't be coming down unless Levi hangs from it when he is 12 years old!
AKA, Not for a while! If you recognize the Buffalo check wall paper it is leftover from our {Laundry Room Makeover}:
Here are a few more shots of Levi's room starring none other than 2 month old Levi!
I just wanted to turn on the cactus lights!!!
You can check out other nursery post here and here. Alright y'all, heres to another week of trying to keep my kids alive! Talk to you soon 😚
Oh my goodness, I love that face! 😍 Time is just zooming by with our sweet Levi and the bags under my eyes have never been bigger... I'm okay with that because I haven't started losing my hair at an alarming rate yet! Postpartum is so glamourous. I'm planning on filling y'all in on how the newborn phase has been and how much different bringing home #2 is vs. #1.
Now onto finishing Levi's birth story! Before I go into whether or not Tall Tan Man went to the movies... I want to never forget that my sweet Mack came to visit us in the hospital before his brother made his appearance. During the sweet visit he threw up all over the floor and his Dad. 😷 Yep, not what we expected. He had been sick earlier in the week and saved just one last throw up for the hospital. Funny how things change for #2.
Alright, what's your guess? Did TTM go to the movies?
If you know TTM well, then you know the answer is yes. The movie started at 1:15 pm and the nurses were still expecting a late evening delivery. I had just started pitocin and my contractions were very manageable. My mom and I went on a couple walks and the contractions started to get more intense. I told the nurse and TTM that the pain was too much and I didn't think I could go much longer without an epidural. The nurse kept saying she thought it would be a while before I should get an epidural. She recommended I get a foot massage. At that point I was willing to do anything to take my mind off things.
TTM came back when I was getting my foot massage {he got 40 minutes into the Avengers movie 😂} and then BAM. Water broke. I yelled out of my door to get me an epidural, NOW. TTM asked me if I was sure if my water broke... then the nurse came in and asked if I was sure my water broke. Yes, yes, YES! Com'on people!
The time between my water breaking and waiting for the epidural to kick in was such a blur. Definitely the worst pain I've ever felt. I remember asking TTM if he thought I should try to do it without an epidural {100% joking}. And for the first time he said "no way!"
With a few snaps of my fingers 😜😜 Levi was here! We were SO emotional and I kept saying "he has your toes". It was nothing like our first experience, it was so much better.
Levi rocked his first month and I survived! He made his first trip to Trader Joe's at 3 days old and did 4-5 hour stretches a night. Mack loves to smother Levi with kisses and does't seem to be bothered by him. Tall Tan Man is so much more comfortable this time around. He actually had to go to MONTANA for three weeks. I know I haven't kept y'all in the loop with us moving and I promise I will give you an update.
Look at that sweet thang! I hope y'all have a great weekend!
We’re alive! Sorry for the radio silence over here, I’m just trying to keep a couple humans alive. #whichisnteasy I thought I would share Levi’s first basket pictures with a little bit of his birth story. He’s already 6 weeks so I’m behind on posting but thankfully not toooooo far behind on taking pictures. I never really shared too much from Mack’s birth because it was well, awful. Here’s a quick recap: no eating and bed rest for 3 days, magnesium (aka you feel like you're in a dream, a bad dream), 3 methods of induction (balloons aren’t just for birthday parties), a pee incident that I shouldn’t share on the internet and Mack ended up in the NICU from me being on magnesium. Needless to say, I wanted to have a completely different experience which meant I had to keep my blood pressure in check. It is a double-edged sword for me. I needed to not be anxious while they took my blood pressure and that’s was not easy from all that happened with my first experience.
