Mini Strawberry Donuts
Happy February! This donut recipe is so easy and if you have never made donuts, you are missing out! I make these donuts from canned biscuits and they are thick and cakey. I would like to say this recipe is kid friendly but very hot oil isn't ideal for 2 year olds... Mack did help me dip the donuts and cut out the centers of the biscuits.
Mini Strawberry Donuts
Ingredients:
Pillsburry Junior Biscuits*
Canola Oil
1/4 Cup Finely Chopped Strawberries
1 Cup Powder Sugar
1 TBSP Water
*This recipe only makes 5 donuts... which was the perfect amount for us. There was easily enough glaze for 5 more donuts if you wanted to get another can of biscuits.
Directions:
1. Begin to heat oil in a small sauce pan to 350 degrees. You want about 1-2 inches of oil. You could use a larger sauce pan to cook more donuts at once. Punch a hole in the center of your biscuits with a circular object. I used the insert from our garlic press {see picture below}.
2. Using a slotted spoon carefully drop donuts into the oil. You want to cook the donuts for 20 - 30 seconds on each side. Place cooked donuts on a paper towel to absorb any extra oil.
3. To make the glaze; whisk together the strawberries, powder sugar, and water. Dip the completely cooled donuts in the glaze. I poured additional glaze over the donuts because who doesn't want more glaze?
Soooo yummy! Mack kept saying mo' donutsssss. And we didn't have anymore because his Momma has a sweet tooth. #andispregnant With the donut holes I decided to dip them in some cinnamon and sugar right out of the oil. If I am being completely honest those are my favorite part of donuts. I wish I had about 40 more of those right now....
Alright y'all, I am so stinking' excited because the hubs and I are headed out for a surprise anniversary trip TODAY! I don't know if it is my hormones or Mack being two, but this Momma could use a couple days off. #canIgetanAmen ?!?!
