My Big Summer Project

Any guesses what my big summer project is???

...

No, I am not starting my own bakery...

...

No, these are not gluten free {gross}...

...

These are not a new recipe I am trying...

...

Well, first came love

Then came marriage...

and now

Baby BOY Jarrett is set to make HIS appearance in January 2016!  Yep, I have been making a baby all summer long.  We are so excited and terrified!  I have been feeling great except for being extremely tired {like post full marathon tired}.  I plan on doing a couple posts on how we found out, told our families, and what I have learned about pregnancy so far.  I am such an expert now.  Totally kidding.  I hope y'all have an awesome Friday, and please have a margarita for me!

Painting Adirondack Chairs

Hello! What do you think of our "new" turquoise adirondack chairs???  Our {backyard} is still a work in progress but these chairs are definitely helping ;).  Poor Tall Tan Man has to put up with my side projects weekly.  Here is the before picture of the chairs:

The seat and arms had lost most of the finish and I was tired of the stained look.   I wanted to get out of my usual go to neutrals, and used Glidden Exterior Marine Blue paint.  Originally I planned on spray painting, but Bill at Home Depot convinced me to use a skinny roller.  I also used a foam brush to get into little crevices.

These chairs definitely brightened up our back porch!

I have to go into school this week to get some work done.  It is happening, summer is ending.  I am excited to share my biggest summer project this week.  Stay tuned!

DIY Sunburst Mirror {take two}

Hello!  Two blog posts in one week...who am I?!  I DIYed {this mirror} last summer and if I am being 100% honest I wasn't crazy about the results.  Gold spray paint can be tricky and I liked the mirror more before I spray painted it.

With our two moves in the last year the mirror didn't survive. Some of the wooden shims fell off and I thought it was a lost cause.  But then I got the idea to just flip all the shims over to the natural wood side and remake the mirror!!!

I love the natural wood look!  For the full tutorial on how to make this click {here}.

I moved the big chalkboard that was there to the other big wall in the room.

I hope you are having a wonderful summer!  Target has officially put all their back to school stuff up...makes me want to puke!  I am not ready to go back to work...  I am sure I have all your pity :)

Plate hanging made EASY!

Hey guys! I have been doing some actual decorating around our house {finally}!  Something about hanging things on the walls make a house feel more like home.  :)  I don't know about you, but I am a sucker for Anthropologie's home collections...

Our kitchen was in major need for some color and I decided it was about time decorated with plates.  I found these handy plate hangers at Hobby Lobby:

The disc were super easy to apply.  I "pretty much" followed the directions.  All you do is apply a little water to the back of the disc, let it sit for 5 minutes, and then apply the disc to the back of the plate.  I only let the disc dry for an hour instead of 24 hours... They haven't fallen off yet, so I think I am okay!

I am hoping that in this next picture the beauty of our new counter tops will distract you from all the blue tape...

We have not finished installing the counter tops yet, but as you can see they are going to look sooo good!  I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.  I hope to be back on my blogging game soon.  I promise I am working on something big and can't wait to share the project with y'all!
