Painted Monogram Door Mat

Oh Monday, I am glad I survived you.  I made this doormat a little over a year ago after I got married {you can tell it has gotten some good use}.  I found it at Tuesday Morning and I loved the checkered look! 

I printed out a J, cut it out, traced it onto a poster, and cut it out again. 

I first tried to spray paint the J on, and that failed epically. The paint did not look thick enough, and the J looked really faded.  Next I painted with white latex paint by hand.  The edges were not as crisp as I wanted, but I am still happy with how it turned out. :)
