Howdy! My bedroom has been the last room in my apartment I decided to decorate. One frustration with living in an apartment is dealing with the paint colors. When I moved in I was not sure how long I was going to live there, and did not want to mess with having to paint and repaint. This might be a summer project of mine...My apartment decided it would be a good idea to paint one wall in the bedroom burnt orange {make me throw up...boomer sooner}. The color is not all that terrible, but the "safari" style is not for me. I think I would really love Peacock Blue...
My bedroom was looking tragic, and I decided to look past the ugly wall and mix things up. I think one of the easiest ways to update a room is adding window treatments. I had seen these a couple years back, and seeing them again on pinterest made me want them even more...
The tutorial to make those is HERE. Her version is no sew :). After reading a bunch of blogs about these I decided it would be equally as much work to sew. I am really happy with how they turned out, and don't regret my choice to sew them! I followed {this} sewing tutorial from DIY Project-aholic.
A couple things I learned from this project...
1) Window treatments are hard to photograph.
2) Don't pin all the stripes at once {ouch}.
3) Make sure you have plenty of thread, or the last stripe is a little stressful...
4) Buy a full size ironing board if you want to do any more sewing projects!
5) The more pins you use the easier it is to sew straight.
I am not in love with any of the pictures...but here are some!
I love stripes...
The chair to the left is calling my name to be recovered. Have a great week!!!
